SMARTer Kids Foundation
Connections provides students and teachers throughout Canada, the U.S. and Mexico with opportunities for adventure, discovery and growth. By exposing students and teachers to experiences outside their communities, the Foundation hopes that they will develop understanding of and respect for each others similarities and differences.

Communities of Color

Celebrating Communities of Color Grants Program

The General Mills Foundation is pleased to announce the continuation of the Celebrating Communities of Color grants program for 2008. The Celebrating Communities of Color grants program awards fifty $10,000 grants to nonprofit organizations in the Twin Cities seven-county metro area serving communities of color.

Celebrating Solutions Awards
The Mary Byron Foundation created the Celebrating Solutions Awards to showcase and applaud local innovations that demonstrate promise in breaking the cycle of violence. We select programs that can serve as models for the nation and offer $10,000 cash awards in recognition of their pioneering efforts.

Teaching Tolerance
The Teaching Tolerance project of the Southern Poverty Law Center offers grants of up to $2,000 to K-12 classroom teachers for implementing tolerance and youth activism projects in their schools and communities. Proposals from other educators such as community organizations and churches will be considered on the basis of direct student impact.
