Grants Management The first few months of a new grant are both hectic and critical. A grant that gets off to a good start usually will end well. Delays in getting board approval, a budget set up, hiring personnel, and securing supplies and materials can cause problems throughout the duration of the grant. Problems or delays in the hiring process can have a particularly detrimental impact on reaching grant objectives on time, in the manner planned, and on fully expending grant monies. The time between the grant award and the actual start date varies.
