Submitting My Grant: all you need to know about getting district approval for your proposal.
Before you begin searching for or writing the grant, make sure that you review the Saint Paul Public Schools Grants Proposal Process and that you review the following checklist to make sure you have the time to complete and submit proposal. The Signatures Page provides in-depth instructions for how to get the necessary approval from the district to submit your grant; please read this page carefully, as it provides essential information for ALL proposals.
You will be responsible for the following steps:
1) Getting approval from your principal, program manager and/or supervisor.
2) Writing the grant. This includes completing forms, writing cover letters, and completing budgets.
3) Having your supervisor and at least one other person review and proof your proposal for content, clarity, spelling and grammar.
4) Ensuring that Evaluation requirements are met. (Many grants include an evaluation component. If so, you will need to consult an evaluator during the grant-writing phase and set aside between 5 and 10% of your grant funds for an evaluation.)
5) Getting authorized signatures. All grants submitted by Saint Paul Public Schools require the superintendent's signature, regardless of what the funder's guidelines may indicate.
6) Once you have received all the signatures, bring the completed proposal to the Office of Innovation and Development, and, if it is at least five days prior to your deadline, we will send it on to the funder; if not, you will be responsible for submitting it.
7) If you cannot complete these steps given your deadline, you will need to seek a funding alternative, some of which are provided on this page.
