Letter of Support Criteria

A letter of support from SPPS or from a partner may be the first step in an active and engaged partnership. When you ask for a letter of support on your projects, it demonstrates a commitment from you, the partner, and from SPPS in the following areas:
  • The district's overall strategic framework for the advancement of education shall be made clear prior to the engaging of any partnership or project.  The proposed project will, in turn, clearly state how it advances the strategic framework toward an achievable end.
  • The district will serve as a committed partner in all situations.  The district will have active leadership and connection in all proposals. Required reports will be completed in a timely, efficient manner as prescribed by the contract.
  • Communication shall be made by leaders in all the organizations in a regular, timely and efficient manner with all key staff involved from the partner organization.
  • Our partners agree that the interests of SPPS and its students are to be protected in all situations.  The partner understands that coordination of services will happen within the district to ensure the safety, security and confidentiality of our students.
In order to process a request for a letter of support, please submit the following paperwork to OID:
  • A draft of the letter of support
  • A copy of the request for proposal (on grants)
  • A draft of the grant or project
  • A draft of the budget
  • A cover sheet with summary and routing information (attached)
Material should be submitted at least ten business days before the grant or project deadline. OID will, in turn, review and revise as necessary, determine the signatures necessary and route the paperwork (may take up to one week), and return the signed letter according to the requester directions. Letters of support will be approved and signed when the grant or project meets the strategic direction of the district, when a committed partnership is created, and when applicable materials are presented in a regular and timely manner.

Cover Sheet for Letter of Support   Please fill in the attached cover sheet for a letter of support request. When finished, follow the directions above and return it to OID.
