| The Office of Innovation and Development | | The Office of Innovation and Development, or more commonly known as the Grants Office, does so much more than write grants.
Our foundation is in developing and maintaining relationships with funders. Partnerships with companies -- such as 3M, Medtronic, and Ecolab -- are crucial to the success of many of the programs at Saint Paul Public Schools. Out of these relationships come programs like the Ingenuity Grants and Visions for Learning, not to mention the hundreds of volunteers coming into schools to work with students.
Another part of our mission is strategic planning. Strategic planning is assisting program managers to chart out a strategy, short and long term, to moving their work forward. Out of this planning, gaps and weaknesses present themselves, and it is those gaps that are the starting point for funding strategies and grant proposals. Of course, we also write grants with a district-wide scope. A Federal grant takes from 6-12 weeks (sometimes even longer) of full-time work to develop an entire application. For smaller grants, which in our view is anything under $100,000, we help you in many ways, but we really can't write the application for you. We can help you plan the application, search for grant opportunities, proofread/edit your work, help you with getting the appropriate signatures and approval, and even putting it in the mail for you.
